The town planning strategies adopted in the urban requalification of Bologna envisage indications and rules to favor the reuse of public and private disused spaces and buildings. The objective is to make the city better without using new land.
The urban requalification processes promoted concern service facilities and disused production sites. Each intervention will contribute to improve the public services to the benefit of the city.
Service facilities
A series of service providers are present in the city (hospitals, sports facilities, university, etc.) which, with a specific town plan approved in 2016, can start works for the transformation and renovation of their facilities to improve the provision of public services. The interventions, to be carried out in the near future, mainly focus on: renovation of some hospital and healthcare facilities; building of a new education hub with daycare-kindergarten in the university area in Via Filippo Re; extension of the Bologna FC sports facilities in Casteldebole; extension of the San Donnino park with renovation of some parking spaces; construction of social housing units in Via Barbacci; a small access hall to the MAST.
